Back To Work

Hi Everyone,

 

I went back to work this week, but I haven’t made it into the office yet and it’s been 3 days. The reason being is that my bosses have sent me on training for something called ‘Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 or MOSS 2007 for short. MOSS is something I’ve wanted to learn it for a long time as MOSS has a lot of potential uses. What is MOSS you might be asking?

 

Well it’s an application that can be used to create and maintain corporate intranet portals that have several features including Document/Content Management, ability to setup team based Task lists and calendars. It can also handle various types of lists like phone contact lists but it can handle any type of list you can think of. You can also setup Discussion/Forum discussions, Wiki’s and Blogs. I’m going to be one of the team redeveloping the Service Desk’s internal information site using SharePoint. The course was very good, the trainer good and I learnt much. I can’t wait to get started on the project to develop the new site. 

 

Returning to work has meant I’ve slowed down a bit on the development of my own website but I’ve been doing some work fixing things here and there and adding new content. One way you can quickly find out new and featured content on the site is to click on the Home link above and look to the left of the screen. There you’ll see a highlights section. It’s not there yet but will be soon.  I’ve also started work on my next web project but it’s still very early on. I’d like to announce that I’m creating a new site located at www.bradscomputerworld.net. You can go take a look if you want but at the moment there is no content I’m still working out the structure of the site. I plan to have all sorts of information about everything information technology related. I fyou have content suggestions or any suggestions related to the sites let me know.

 

I also returned to National Toastmasters (see www.nationaltoastmasters.org) the Toastmasters course I’m a part of for the first meeting of the year. See the club website for more information about the club. I have written some of the content of the site. Well that’s about it for now, talk more later.
